VACES CURRENT OPEN POSITIONS

Elected Positions (Now excepting nominations)

VACES is now accepting nominations for the following positions (see below). Elections will be held in the late May. Notifications will be made by early June. Please submit your questions to vacesinfo@gmail.com and indicate board positions in the subject line.

President-Elect-Elect

Responsibilities:  The nominee is required to have an earned doctorate degree in counseling or counselor education and supervision. Must be employed full-time in a role that involves responsibilities related to teaching, supervising, advising, counseling, mentoring, and/or scholarly activities related to counseling and/or counselor education and supervision. The president-elect shall participate in board meetings as a voting member and assist the president-elect in duties. In the event a president-elect should resign or be unable to complete the term, or fill the president’s expired term, the president-elect-elect of the Executive Board shall assume the position of president-elect. The president-elect-elect shall serve one year in this role, then one year as president elect, then one year as president, then one year as past president; 4 years total.

Secretary-Elect

Responsibilities: The secretary-elect will learn the role of secretary by with guidance from the current Secretary, create the meeting minutes two times.  Have the current Secretary review the draft document for final approval. Send the minutes to the President for review within 3 business days.  When the minutes are approved at the next monthly meeting, the secretary-elect will submit them to the VACES Webmaster to publish on the VACES website. The secretary-elect will serve one year in this role and one year as secretary. Term is a total of 2 years.

Appointed Positions (Now excepting nominations)

Members At Large

VACES members at large represent school counseling, clinical counseling, counselor education, counselor supervision. They serve on the board as voting members, attend meetings to represent the stakeholders of their role, help with the planning and facilitation of the VACES conference, and other tasks related to VACES.

Webmaster

The webmaster will be responsible for managing the content and organization of the VACES website. The webmaster will also keep up with reminders of billing renewal due dates of site and domain name. The nominee can be a student or professional; however, is required to have good writing, technical skills, and interest. Experience using WordPress preferred, but willing to train. The term shall last for at least a two-year term with the option to extend.

Graduate Student Representatives (3 open positions)

Graduate student representative nominees must physically reside in the state of Virginia during the appointed term.  Must be nominated by your program faculty member.  Nominees must be enrolled in a masters or Ph.D. counselor education program.   Must be a student member of VCA and VACES by July 01. Graduate student representatives serve as liaisons to VACES leadership on topics, issues, and concerns related to counselor education and supervision in Virginia.  Serves on special projects as defined by VACES leadership.  For example, assisting with the VACES Graduate Student Conference.

Graduate Student Liaisons (ongoing need)

VACES would also like to have a graduate student liaison for each university in Virginia as well as online universities that enroll Virginia students.  These graduate student liaisons will serve as a liaison between VACES and their university providing the university important information about upcoming events to the university and serving in advocacy roles with VACES regarding topics, issues, and concerns related to counselor education and supervision in Virginia.
